There are many large round banquet tables with place settings, table cloths, and folded cloth napkins in the room, with special Orioles caps on each chair for attendees.

Conceived in 1977 by the Oriole Advocates with the encouragement and cooperation of the Orioles, Brooks Robinson and Frank Robinson were the inaugural inductees of the Hall of Fame. 

 

Each year, the Oriole Advocates Hall of Fame Committee oversees the process of creating ballots containing the leading candidates for election to the Hall of Fame. Ballots are mailed to members of the Oriole Advocates, prominent media members, members of the Oriole front office, and current Hall of Fame members. The nominee receiving at least 60% of the votes cast is elected to membership in the Hall of Fame.

The Orioles Hall of Fame 
Luncheon

Each year, the Oriole Advocates host an Orioles Hall of Fame Luncheon to honor those elected to the Hall of Fame and celebrate significant events in Orioles history. The 2023 Orioles Hall of Fame Luncheon celebrated the 40-year anniversary of the 1983 World Series Champions, featuring Jim Palmer, Ken Singleton, Rick Dempsey, Al Bumbry, and Scott McGregor. 

In addition to electing members into the Orioles Hall of Fame, the Oriole Advocates presents three awards annually to deserving members of the Orioles baseball community.

Veterans Award

In 1989, the Advocates
formed a Veterans Committee
to consider early Oriole players whose contributions
may have been
overlooked by voters.

Herb Armstrong Award

In 1995, the
Herbert E. Armstrong Award
was established to honor
non-uniformed personnel
worthy of inclusion in the
Orioles Hall of Fame.

Wild Bill Hagy Award

In 2007, the
William “Wild Bill” Hagy
Award was established
to honor fans who show
devotion, commitment, and support to the team.
